Portageville Students Attend Regional Science Fair

Twenty-six students from Portageville School District participated in the 58th Annual Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Tenth grade biology students participating were Anna Birdwell, Destiney Crossno, Hannah Jackson, Johanne Karizamimba, Erica Maddox, Amanda Moody, Harmony Patton, Briannia Pitts, Mikayla Rone, and Taylor Tiffany. Eleventh and twelfth grade physics students participating were Sydney Carter, Austin Crysler, Molly Frakes, Hailey Godair, Caleb Gooch, Michael Hopkins, Hunter Jackson, Keileigh Jones, JaTyra Marsh, Kurt Penn, Alison Pepper, Cooper Samples, Madison Shaw, Kylie Spence, Myles Stafford, and Bryce Wallace. The sponsors for this trip were high school science teachers Christina Brands, Ashlie Patton, and Paige Palmer. These students presented their projects during a two-hour judging period. Judges included professors from Southeast Missouri State University, teachers from Southeast Missouri school districts, and individuals from the Missouri Department of Conservation, U.S. Navy, Cape Girardeau Area Engineers Club, Southeast Missouri Dental Society, and MODOT.
