Wind of Change

Friday, April 25, 2014

I believe that there is a wind of change starting to blow through our nation. Maybe, it is just my hope that the wind of change is blowing, whatever it is I pray that it will continue. The blowing wind that I am referring to is that the last two movies that I have seen, I have been able to walk out of the theater without hearing a foul word in the movie. In searching my memory I cannot recall the last time, or any time that I can remember that happening.

Movies should be able to be enjoyed by the entire family, without having fear of what bad word you might hear and have to explain to your young children, "That is a word that we do not use in this family." However over the past 20-25 years the majority of movies that Hollywood has produced have been movies that families were not able to enjoy together. While the plot of many movies is good, the language is often poor as it is filled with all kinds of four letter words.

I know in my own family we have talked about the fact that there have been some movies that would have been great if it were not for the language. As Christians we can put a stop to the language that Hollywood is putting into the movies if we agree not the support the movie. We have to ban together though to put a stop to it.

The last two movies that I have seen have been in order God's Not Dead and Heaven is for Real. I highly recommend both of these movies for everyone to go and see and do not be afraid to take you children. I give both of these movies 5 stars across the board.

These movies both deal with spiritual issues that in some way or another touch our lives. They are movies that make people look into their own hearts and deal with faith and what we really believe. While they may not answer all the questions that we have, they set a person to thinking.

I have to give Hollywood 5 stars for putting these movies out and my prayer and my hope is that people will flood the movie theaters and go and see these movies. If these movies come close to selling out day after day, then Hollywood will see that people are hungry for this type of movie and more will be produced.

Listen to what Scripture tells us in Luke 6:45, "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."

If we are watching useful stuff at the movies then our lives will be enriched with the blessing of God for ourselves and for the world. On the other hand if what we are watching at the movies is no good and useless, then we are wasting our time and NOT storing up good stuff in our hearts.

I pray that there will continue to be good movies that are useful for building up our spiritual lives and help us grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God bless,
