Sodom and Gomorrah pt 4

In this series on the lessons to be learned from God's judgment upon the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah we learned that the people of Lot's day (as well as people of our day) were not following God's plan for marriage but instead were committing abomination. Nothing will ruin a nation quicker than the sins of Sodom. Isaiah 3:8 is a very poignant passage of Scripture, " For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory. The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves." The sin that use to slink down the back alley now struts down main streets.

Finally, there is 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Paul, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit said, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." This is not my word but the Word of God. What the Bible says, God says. And don't think you can live this way and still go to heaven. God says those who live this way shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Now, does that mean that if you have committed one of these sins that you are not going to heaven. Not necessarily because the next verse says, "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." I say it again. God loves you and has provided for all of us a way of salvation and eternal life. His name is Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of the Living God who came to this earth through the portals of a virgin's womb, lived a sinless life, died on a Roman cross paying the penalty for sin, rose again the third day, and lives forever King of kings and Lord of lords. Repent of your sin and trust Jesus Christ. God loves you and so do we at First Baptist Church.
