Woman faces child endangerment charges

CARUTHERSVILLE - A woman will face charges of endangering the welfare of child in connection with a spanking which left marks on a toddler.

On June 10, the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from a parent about her 3-year-old son being spanked by the their babysitter. The spanking left welts and a handprint on the child's leg and bottom.

"Upon conclusion of our investigation the evidence and probable cause was submitted to the Pemiscot County Prosecutor's Office," said Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell in a new release.

On Thursday, Kim Jones of Caruthersville, was arraigned in Division II of Pemiscot County Circuit Court before Judge William Carter on the misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child. She was ordered to return to court at 10 a.m. Aug. 6.
