New Madrid County Central ends season after first round loss to Perryville

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. Jacob Keene produced the lone hit as the sixth-seeded New Madrid County Central Eagles saw their season come to an end at the hands of third-seeded Perryville in the quarterfinal loss of the Class 4, District 1 Tournament at Notre Dame High School on Saturday.

Palmer Campbell went the distance on the mound to suffer the loss for New Madrid County Central, which closed out its season with a record of 7-16. He allowed one earned run and tallied 11 strikeouts and two walks.

Garrett Dix also pitched a complete game to clinch the win for Perryville (15-6). He recorded 15 strikeouts and walked two.

Perryville will square off against second-seeded host Notre Dame at 7 p.m. Monday in the second semifinal of the day.

BERNIE, Mo. Ethan Hutchison blasted a home run for one of the two hits for the sixth-seeded Wildcats in their season-ending loss to the third-seeded Lions in the opening round of the Class 2 District 1 Tournament.

Jacob Hector went five innings on the mound to sustain the loss for Bloomfield. He gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits, struck out five and walked two. The Wildcats concluded their season with a record of 10-13-1.

David Sawyer pitched three innings to get the win for Senath-Hornersville (13-10-1). He allowed two earned runs on one hit and recorded six strikeouts and six walks.

Zeke Lomax smacked a home run and had four RBIs to help propel the Lions at the plate.
