Mary Carolyn Clay, 81
Mary Carolyn Clay was born in Chicago, Ill. on the Nov. 19, 1935. She died on the May 12, 2017, in Manchester, Tenn. She was a medical doctor secretary for many years in Virginia Beach, Va., and later went on to retire in Manchester with her husband, Donald Clay, who preceded her in death along with her parents and a nephew.
Mary is survived by Jerry Hutchinson, her brother, from Crestview, Fla; nephew Barry Hutchinson and wife Serena from Macon, Ga; great-nieces Rebecca Hutchinson and Leslie Hutchinson from Macon, Ga; great-nephew Tristan Hutchinson of Traverse City, Mich; two nieces Paige Hickernell and husband Mike and their children of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Dr. Elizabeth Renneisen and husband Eric of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and sister-in-law Delphia Clay Anderson and husband Roger from Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Carl Hutchinson and Virginia Worth Hutchinson and her nephew Jerry Hutchinson Jr of Tuscon, Ariz.
Mary Carolyn grew up in Portageville and graduated from Portageville High School. She had a great love for piano and earned a degree in music from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
She loved traveling stateside and abroad. Her late husband, Donald Clay, was a pilot and she really loved flying in his small airplanes with him. Boating and being on the water were also great loves of hers. She had a huge interest in her French books and loved drawing and sketching and she also had a great love for her dogs.
A funeral service memorial will be held for her at Delisle Funeral Home in Portageville on Saturday May 20, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.
Mary will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
