Best Bootheel Baseball Camp starts Friday at Gideon
The Bootheel Best Baseball Camp is slated to take place June 8 and June 9 at Gideon Baseball Park.
Under the leadership of Mark Littell and other area coaches, youth baseball players will participate in throwing, fielding, base running, bunting and hitting exercises.
The camp is divided into two sessions. The first session for ages eight to 13 is from 9 a.m. until noon and the second session for ages 14 to 18 is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Early check-in is Friday at 8:30 a.m.
Participants should bring a glove, bat, shoes and baseball cap to the camp.
A Meet and Greet with Mark Littell and Dr. Jerry Caulder will also take place Friday at 7 p.m. at the Bootheel Art Center in Clarkton.
Littell is a 1971 Gideon alumni who is a former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched for the Kansas City Royals from 1971-1977 and the St. Louis Cardinals from 1978-1982. He also coached 20 years professionally and traveled the world teaching and talking baseball.
Caulder is a 1960 Gideon alumni and father of Agricultural BioTechnology.
