Portageville police arrest one after traffic stop

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — A traffic stop in Portageville resulted in an arrest Tuesday.

According to the Portageville Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on a vehicle for defective equipment. As the officer exited the patrol car, a passenger, Vendarius Brown, fled on foot from the passenger side of the vehicle.

After a brief foot pursuit, Brown was taken into custody without incident.

Brown had a felony no bond warrant along with other felony warrants through New Madrid County.

According to court records, on Feb. 27, Brown was charged with two counts of first degree assault, first degree domestic assault, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree, two counts of first degree property damage and leaving the scene of an accident.

Brown failed to appear for his preliminary hearing on April 25 and the warrant was issued.
