Phillips Family Reunion
The family of the late Loyd and Addie Phillips wishes to invite friends and family to their reunion.
The reunion is set for Saturday, October 7th, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the red building at Portageville's Meatte Memorial Park.
There will be a pot luck at noon. The Phillips invite you to bring your favorite dish but ask that you don't feel obligated to bring anything, as there is always plenty of good food to go around. No calories included.
The Phillips' want this to be an enjoyable day of reminiscing for everyone. There will be games throughout the day, and they ask you to come join in on the fun.
There will be plenty of games to play, and also the one that was so poplar last year. I am not going top tell you about that one, you will need to come and find out for yourself.
Mark the date on your calendar so you won't miss this special reunion the Phillips' have planned for everyone.
"STUFF-A-TRUCK" FOR THE PORTAGEVILLE DOG POUND
Once again, "The Old Broads Plus One" is going to host "STUFF-A-TRUCK" FOR THE PORTAGEVILLE DOG POUND during MAIN STREET MADNESS on September 23. The truck will be in the same location, in front of the Daugherty building, on Main Street.
If you should want to donate any of the following items before Main Street Madness, you can drop them off to Peggy Simmons, Theresa Eftink and/or Sheila Keene.
Items needed include: Dog and puppy foods, cat and kitten foods, collars and leashes, puppy training pads, cat litter and cleaning supplies. Any old blankets, rugs or towels, that you may have, can be donated to be used as bedding.

Chamber seeking volunteers
The Portageville Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to participate in the 2017 Portageville Soybean Festival activities. Your local Chamber of Commerce members are excited to get this annual celebration of this community and heritage rolling this coming fall. In that spirit, this year's festival theme will be “70 Years of Rolling on a River.” Come and join other chamber members as they work to make this year's festival one to remember. Festival dates are September 23 – 29, and volunteers are being sought for all events. Heartland Book Festival on the Mississippi set for October 28
The Heartland Writers’ Guild will be hosting the Heartland Book Festival on the Mississippi on October 28, 2017, at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Centennial school shirts on sale
The Portageville High School Seniors will be selling "Centennial" Shirts to fundraise for Project Graduation 2018! These are a unisex shirt and will be available in short sleeve tee and sweatshirt. They will also have youth available. Short sleeve will be $15 and Sweatshirts will be $20.
The Bulldog will be the front and The Tradition Continues on the back. Project Graduation will also sell these at home football games and at Main Street Madness.
